Tampa police use Taser on pit bull

Full Description:

Tampa police say officers used a Taser gun on a pit bull that was attacking a man.

Authorities say the pit bull bit 56-year-old Steven Smith several times in the arm while Smith was walking his dog last night.

Officers patrolling the area saw the attack and pulled over to assist. The dog charged one of the officers who struck the animal with the Taser.

Reports say when the pit bill fell to the ground, the wires from the Taser fell out. The dog then ran home.

Smith was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

One of the dog's owners, 49-year-old Barbara Hall, has been arrested for obstructing the investigation.

Authorities say another owner, 26-year-old Cerrone Hall, fled the scene.

The pit bull hasn't been located.
